Munar se despide de Miami tras caer ante Monfils y Djokovic avanza con Nadal.

The Spanish tennis player Jaume Munar bid farewell to his journey on the Miami tour (United States), the second 1000 Masters of the season, played on the last outdoor court, after falling in the third round against Frenchman Gael Monfils in a tough three-set match of 7-5, 5-7, 5-7, 5-7.

The Balearic player couldn’t continue his great journey in Florida, where he advanced to the second round against Russian Daniil Medvedev, but couldn’t overcome the veteran Parisian in a match that lasted over two and a half hours, where he had to serve to secure a spot in the round of 16.

Munar didn’t start the game well, suffering an early setback, but managed to regroup to level things in a first set that seemed destined for a tiebreak. Trailing 5-6, Munar had a 40-0 lead in his service game but couldn’t maintain his advantage and ended up losing the set.

The second set was closely contested, with neither player giving an inch in their tennis battle. It seemed like another tiebreak was on the cards, but Munar managed to break at 5-5 and force a decisive third and final set.

Despite the efforts of both players, the third set was evenly balanced, with Munar holding the upper hand after saving two break points at 3-4 down and breaking Monfils to level at 5-5. However, the Frenchman drew on his experience and capitalized on some Spanish nerves to force a tiebreak where he didn’t give his opponent any chance to recover.

Also advancing to the fourth round of the Miami Masters 1000 was Serbian Novak Djokovic, who defeated Argentina’s Camilo Ugo Carabelli 6-1, 7-6 (1) to set a new record for victories in this category. Djokovic added 411 wins to his career, surpassing the previous record held by Spanish player Rafael Nadal.
