Martinho recoge en España con 25 tanques en alerta roja

Ávila declared a state of emergency after the spill of its rivers, while the police are still searching for a missing man in Andalucía.

Spain continues to suffer the consequences of Storm Borasca Martinho, which this weekend has kept 14 autonomous communities on high alert for winds or snow. Authorities are paying special attention to the rivers in Madrid and Toledo, as well as in Ávila, where a state of emergency was declared after the Adaja and Chico rivers overflowed, causing flooding in the area.

Dozens of roads were closed and rivers overflowed in large areas of central and northern Spain, forcing hundreds of people to evacuate. In Madrid, several roads were closed as the alert for flooding of the Manzanares River remains, and more than 40 people were evacuated on the outskirts of the capital.

The most affected regions continue to be Andalucía and Castilla y León. In total, 22 roads remain closed due to traffic disruptions caused by heavy rains, while snow is affecting traffic on 15 roads, mainly secondary ones, according to the latest data from the Directorate General of Traffic.

Despite the storm losing some intensity by the third day, the situation remains challenging due to the heavy rains that saturated the soil and caused snowmelt in the affected areas. The rivers are flowing heavily, increasing the risk of spills.

In this context, 25 tanks in the Tagus River basin, located in the provinces of Guadalajara, Madrid, Toledo, and Cáceres, have exceeded the red alert levels, while 19 dams are under significant strain. Meanwhile, near the town of Pujerra in the south of Andalucía, police images were circulated as they continue to search for a man who has been missing for four days.
