Madrid residents and tourists are rushing in the last hours of this Saturday to buy a lottery ticket for the Extraordinary El Niño Draw that will take place on Monday, Three Kings Day, with queues at the administrations located in the center of the capital.
The Extraordinary El Niño Lottery Draw 2025 will distribute a total of 770 million euros in prizes on January 6, 2025, the first of which will be endowed with 2 million euros for the series, which means 200,000 euros for the winning ticket.
A few hours before the draw, on Saturday morning queues formed at administrations such as «Doña Manolita» or «El Elefante de Arenal», in the heart of the capital. Many Madrid residents and tourists leave this task for the last minute.
«I always play the Christmas lottery, but then I always run out of time to get the El Niño lottery, because I have less time,» says a young man at the door of the administration to Europa Press Television. Next to him, another couple admits that they don’t usually leave this task for the last minute but, in this case, «it’s a commitment.»
However, they all agree that they would use the prize money to «cover holes», such as paying the mortgage, traveling, or helping the family. «For a house; Since everything is very expensive, what can help us the most is the lottery,» explains one of the young women waiting in line.
Other girls beside her admit that they are «split» for this draw, although they will only buy one ticket and trust in the luck of the Three Kings. Another woman waiting in line in front of the Administration is thinking of the number 8. «The number of abundance,» she says.
The issuance of this draw consists of 55 series of 100,000 tickets each, at a price of 200 euros per ticket, distributed in tenths of 20 euros each.
The total issuance amounts to 1.1 billion euros, and 70% of the issuance is allocated to prizes, that is, 770 million euros. The most important prizes are the 2 million euros prize per series, the second prize of 750,000 euros per series, and the third prize of 250,000 euros per series. In addition, the «El Niño» draw will distribute, among others, 20 prizes of 3,500 euros, 1,400 prizes of 1,000 euros, and 5,000 prizes of 400 euros.
