Sonar defined this Saturday the role that the second vice president, Yolanda Díaz, will have in the organic structure of the summary, where she will serve as Institutional Coordinator for the main reference position of the government.
This was explained at a press conference on Saturday by the secretary of the summary organization, Lara Hernández, to provide an account of the publication of the lists to renew the extended direction of the summary, the coordination group, and the details of the second state assembly that will take place next weekend.
Clearly, Díaz appears in the third position of the official candidacy, which includes Hernández herself and the spokesperson for the economic summary, Deputy Carlos Martín, as the main candidates to hold the dual general coordinator position that the training will debut at its Congress.
Hernández emphasized that if the assembly decides, Díaz will have an additional role as an institutional action and government leader. This role is proposed, she explained, due to her political leadership status within the party coalition that is grouped in the addition and is the maximum reference of the minority partner within the executive.
Díaz decided to resign as the general coordinator of the movement to take on responsibilities for the poor result of the European elections last summer, as well as to appeal to her leadership and endorse the policies defended by the electoral program.
The group explained that Díaz would not opt for internal party leadership and would not have a prominent position in the organic plan to add, but it was clear that she was still the fundamental reference at the political level.
In this way, they explained that this institutional coordinator role is relevant and ordinary within the parties, as it allows to align the party’s position with the executive’s actions.
For example, they mentioned that a similar position is held by the Minister of Common Culture, Ernest Urtasun. They also recalled that Podemos used a similar figure in its executive, when Irene Montero was the Minister of Equality.
As a result, they explain that the Assembly delegates will choose the members of the coordination group and the two coordinators, although formally their appointment will be at the first meeting of the extended direction, as the method of appointing additional leaders is indirect.
Therefore, it will be the new coordination group that will also approve the executive, the core of the addition, and that new figure that Díaz will hold.
