PP desafiará al Congreso y al Gobierno por «veto» y recurrirá al Tribunal Constitucional, abierto a Europa

The Secretary General of the PP, Cuca Galarra, announced on Saturday a power conflict against the Congress and the Government for «vetoing» their changes and also advanced that they will file an appeal for Amparo and unconstitutionality to the Constitutional Court because their rights were violated in the processing of the printing law. This last step before the Court of Guarantees opens the door to appeal to Europe, according to «popular» sources.

This legal-parliamentary conflict originates from a dozen amendments to the law on the prevention of food losses and waste that the government has tried to keep in the Senate, using its power to view legislative initiatives to modify current budgets, but the upper house has rejected them. Among them, one from the PP to reduce the VAT on certain foods and another from Junts and ERC to extend the shelf life of perishable plants, so they can continue to load.

When these changes reached the Congress for the final vote, the Congress table, with the PSE and added votes, recognized the government’s veto and removed them. It was so rushed that there was no written report from the legal services.

Furthermore, the minutes of the last meeting of the Congress Office collect the opposite opinion of the chief lawyer, Fernando Galindo, to accept the government’s changes that the Senate approved and reflect that the government’s disagreement is no longer possible. But the PSOE and others imposed their criteria and the majority to eliminate the amendments that the government wanted to remove, which was attacked by the affected parties (PP, Junts, and ERC).

«We will protect democracy»

Therefore, Gamarra announced that her party will activate «all the instruments that the Organic Law of the Constitutional Court allows». As she said, they will «protect democracy».

«The PP will urge the Senate to promote the conflict of powers, both against the Congress and the Government, but also all the deputies and all the senators here will request the appeal for Amparo and the call against this law in which the majorities trampled on.»

In this sense, she insisted that they will «protect Spanish democracy because it is» in danger. «And with democracy, Mr. Sánchez does not play. So, celebrate less the anniversary of a dictator and act more democratically in our country,» she said.

Furthermore, Gamarra asked Sánchez to stop «acting like a little dictator and start respecting the separation of powers and counterpoints» in Spain. «Respect the will of the majority, of which we speak,» the executive leader stated again.

Defending parliamentarism

Gamarra stated that, at a time when democracy is being trampled by the government of Pedro Sánchez, her party will «defend parliamentarism,» the «legislative power,» and the «separation of powers.»

Furthermore, Gamarra remembered the «heroes» of the PP who were victims of ETA for «defending the values of freedom, defending the values of democracy, and defending the values of Spain»: «We never forget,» she said.

Having said that, she criticized that Sánchez is «whitewashing terrorists and opening the door of Moncloa to the killers»: «If the Anti-Terrorism Pacts were signed today, its tenant pays the rent of the heirs.»
