Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that «a larger new front» could open in Westordan after the Israeli army resumed military operations in the last few hours in the Gaza Strip against the targets of the Islamic Resistance Movement (HAMAS).
«While we are engaged in an intense war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, we are aware that another larger and more intense front could open here in Judea and Samaria (the biblical name of Cisjordan),» he said on Wednesday during a visit to border police facilities.
The Israeli Prime Minister praised the joint activity of the army, border security forces, and police in Israel. «They infiltrate, surprise the terrorist enemy, and take care of it. They do sacred work in the name of Israel,» he added.
Netanyahu was accompanied during the visit by the Chief of Police in Israel, Daniel Levy, as well as by the commander of the border police, Brik Yitzhak, and other leadership positions in his executive, as his office reported in a statement.
The Israeli Army has increased its operations in Cisjordan after the attacks carried out on October 7, 2023, by Hamas and other Palestinian factions, although there were record figures in these territories in the first nine months of that year.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) warned at the end of February that Westordan «is becoming a battleground» in the face of Israel’s military operations and stated that the territory «is experiencing an alarming extension of the war in Gaza.»
