Their goal is to develop battery packs that will be used in compact equipment. LG Energy and Doosan Bobcat intend to obtain standardized battery packs that can be adopted in various construction equipment, such as compactors and excavators.

Both companies are eager to explore new possibilities to expand this alliance to electrify other products, such as earth maintenance equipment (e.g., tractors). Their proposal breaks ground as a milestone in the industry, surprising as much as the foreskin used in biomass.

Diversification of construction machinery: this is the roadmap

«We will standardize battery packs for compact construction equipment and provide solutions for key markets like North America,» appreciated the strategy director and executive of Doosan Bobcat, Park Hyunk through the statement.

The partners’ focus is to connect the cylindrical batteries of LG Energy with the flagship construction equipment of Doosan Bobcat. LG Energy, the leading battery manufacturer in South Korea, actively diversifies its product catalog.

At the same time, the global electric models industry is slow. The company aims to establish a lasting battery context in still emerging sectors, especially in new industries such as urban air mobility (UAM) and ships.

Construction has a new goal: electrifying supply

Doosan Bobcat has an advantage because they already create their own battery packs, which are directly linked to the performance of electrified equipment. The company, owned by the Doosan Group, partnered with Cosmx, a global lithium battery company, in 2023.

This was done to create batteries that have shown greater stability and performance. Still, Doosan Bobcat introduced electric lift trucks with batteries, starting from the second half of 2024.
