Jun y PCE consideran la República de Pamplona III como un horizonte interesante del futuro

United Left and PCE in Navarra called for Republic III as «an interesting horizon for the future, which fully democratizes all state institutions» and defended that «the Spanish citizenship is political and democratic and does not need the tutelage of any monarch.»

Both parties held a political event on the defense of «republican values» at the bullring in Pamplona, under the republican shield on Saturday. During the event, there was a call for the construction of a Republic III that «guarantees social rights, justice, equality and real citizen participation.» They also defended the «validity of republican ideals» and the need to «open a constitutive process that places the needs of the working people at the center.»

Isabel Burbano, Secretary of Navarra for PCE-EPK, and Carlos Guzmán, the general coordinator of Repa-Left in Navarra, who emphasized the importance of «maintaining democratic memory and pointing to a new republican horizon,» intervened, according to IUN in a press release.

Guzmán emphasized that «once again we gather under this republican shield to remember the proclamation of the Second Republic, but above all, to demand Republic III as an interesting horizon for the future, which fully democratizes all state institutions.» He defended that «the Spanish citizenship is political and democratic and does not need the tutelage of any monarch.»

He also emphasized that «the republican left does not appeal to the past with nostalgia,» but that «we demand a profound transformation of the state that goes beyond the regime of 78 and neoliberal logic» and defended that «working families and their rights must be at the center of public action.»

Carlos Guzmán also focused on international politics and military disarmament, mentioning that «Navarra is a land of peace and this was demonstrated in the NATO referendum in 1986.» «Today we have to lead the rejection of militarism and the disarmament plan imposed by the Lords of War,» he said.

In this sense, he called for «investments in health, education, housing, and decent employment instead of missiles, drones, and tanks» and opted for «an alternative of peace, cooperation, and human security.»
