El nuevo servicio temprano de Ave conectará Granada y Madrid

The Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, ÓScar Puente, announced a new program for Ave between Granada and Madrid, set to commence at the end of April, allowing professionals to arrive earlier in the Spanish capital.
The first train from Granada will depart before 06:12, arriving at Madrid Atocha Almudena Grandes at 09:44. This adjustment to the program enables a 48-minute earlier arrival than the current service, reducing the travel time to approximately three hours and 32 minutes. The route will include stops in Loja, Antequera, and Córdoba.
According to Puente, this measure significantly improves connectivity and optimizes travel for professional reasons, redefining the efficiency of the AVE service.
Additionally, during an inspection of the works on the Loja variant, a 19 km section on the Antequera-Granada line, the minister revealed significant progress. The Riofrío section is under construction, and the auction for the final stretch through the Genil Valley is expected to be launched in the first half of the year with a budget of 341 million euros.
The total investment in the LOJA version reaches 555 million euros. This project will not only accelerate travel time between these cities but also between Granada and Almería, forming part of the Mediterranean corridor.
The works on the Loja variant present a notable technical challenge due to the need to integrate the infrastructure in a sensitive environment. It is designed to minimize environmental impact, including crucial tunnels and viaducts to preserve the landscape and valuable archaeological sites, such as the Roman salary villa.
The project is tailored to the land’s characteristics with structures like the Cerro de los Limone tunnel and various drainage works, essential to maintain the structure’s integrity against the natural requirements of the land.
