El CSD no respaldó las decisiones de la RFEF en la sede de la Copa Mundial.

The Superior Sports Council (CSD) warned on Wednesday that the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) rejected the «strategic criteria» proposed to choose Spain as the host for the 2030 World Cup alongside Portugal, thus not «participating» or «endorsing» the decisions made in the elections.

According to the RFEF, in a press release on Wednesday, they clarified the controversy surrounding the selection of the eleven stadiums and the exclusion of Balaídos Abanca in favor of Brazil 2027.

«They were adjusted with the contributions of the members of the World Cup Executive Committee, as well as the oversight, standardization, and representation of the CSD and the government agency itself,» they said.

However, the Council made it clear that «before the federation’s position to limit the number of venues, they proposed that the elections should respond to objective, documentary, and strategic technical criteria,» as it had to consider that it was not just a «country project,» but rather the «First World Cup that unites different cultures.»

«Therefore, the CSD advocated that all aspiring autonomous communities had representation; scores and the final list drafting,» said the body chaired by José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes.

They recalled that they «always defended a maximum position regarding the Spanish host of the 2030 World Cup,» stating that on July 18, 2024, they sent a letter to the RFEF to advocate for «the thirteen Spanish venues» and on July 26, in a letter to FIFA, they emphasized that «the selection included – – – – – -.»
