Chunta Aragonesist wants to be allowed to work with children who have a history of family abuse, and for this Tuesday, they will present an initiative in the courts in which the government of Aragon requests the central executive to reform the regulations that govern the protection of minors against violence.
The Secretary General of Chunta Agonesista and spokesperson for the Social Assistance and Family Commission of Aragon, Isabel Lasobobras, expressed a strong commitment to childhood and adolescence and emphasized the urgent need to strengthen current regulations to prevent individuals with a history of family abuse.
Therefore, they will defend an unassigned proposal in the sectoral body of the Parliament to urge the government of Aragon to ask the Central Executive to modify Organic Law 8/2021, on the comprehensive protection of children and adolescents (Lopivas).
This reform aims to request the submission of a negative criminal record certificate that includes firm convictions for family abuse for all those who aspire to work with minors.
«We cannot allow individuals with a history of family abuse to have regular contact with minors in the educational field or other professional environments,» the objects emphasize.
The CHAA proposal responds to a growing social concern on this issue, as evidenced by collecting over 60,000 signatures in support of this reform at the state level.
Furthermore, the initiative has already been transferred to the Congress of Deputies and has the support of the Ministry of Youth and Children of the Government of Spain, which has recognized the urgency of this legal change.
It also demands that the government of Aragon support and promote initiatives to strengthen the protection of childhood and adolescence against any form of violence, collaborating with family associations, teaching staff, and groups involved in defending the rights of minors.
«It is a matter of common sense and social responsibility. We must ensure that our children grow up in safe environments, without violence, and for this, it is essential to close this legal loophole that allows individuals with a history of abuse to have direct contact with minors,» concluded the objects.
From CHA, they call on all political forces to support this initiative and work together in building a «stronger and more efficient» system.
