Chivite reitera la necesidad de ser firme ante la ola reaccionaria.

María Chivite, who stepped down as the Secretary General of the PSN this Saturday, called for «standing firm» against the «reactionary wave» that is causing «uncertainty» in the world. She emphasized the need for «a strong socialist party in this society» and urged to «keep leading Navarra.»
These remarks were made at the closing of the 13th PSN Congress, held on Friday and Saturday at the Auditorio Baluarte in Pamplona, where the new Executive Committee of the party was elected by 99.44% of the delegates. Thus, María Chivite, who recently completed ten years, will continue as the leader of the Navarre socialists.
In her speech, after being proclaimed, Chivite stated, «With much emotion, with renewed enthusiasm, with more strength than ever, I assume the responsibility and honor of continuing with PSN.» She added, «I hope to live up to it.»
She pointed out that we are facing a «very complex moment, entangled in many crises» that «generate fears» leading many to seek simple answers to complex problems. She warned against the rise of populism, blaming certain groups and appealing to a nostalgic past that never existed. She rejected the spread of misinformation, stating, «We even see it in the Navarre Parliament.»
Given this scenario, she stated, «Our responsibility is to offer a solid project that meets the needs and aspirations of the people.» She emphasized that the best way to counter the conservative wave is through the presentation of proposals and certainties.
She highlighted the significant challenges and debates we face, such as defending the welfare state, the norms and values that foster coexistence, and the need to modernize and transform public services to meet the demands of the 21st century. She also advocated for a more cohesive society against the dominance of the powerful, like Elon Musk.
«If we do not defend the public and do not meet their expectations and needs, the right-wing will gain ground and find arguments to justify their actions,» she warned. She stressed the importance of speaking out and defending our stance on tax issues for wealth distribution and redistribution.
Chivite criticized the prevailing tax policy that favors the affluent, emphasizing that taxes are essential for funding public services. She assured that public services in Navarra are among the best in the country.
The President of the Foral Executive welcomed the creation of the Tav Impulse platform in Navarra, highlighting that it was achieved without any previous government investments. She defended the right to housing as a constitutional right for equal opportunities, not as a luxury for speculation.
Furthermore, she underscored the need for the industry to reinvent itself and innovate for a sustainable future through digitalization and artificial intelligence. She stressed the importance of supporting companies that create quality jobs and invest in renewable energies.
Chivite drew attention to the uncertainties caused by Donald Trump’s trade policies and urged the European Union to respond decisively and cohesively, particularly on immigration issues. She emphasized that migrants in Navarra should be seen as an opportunity for growth, diversity, and prosperity, advocating for policies that facilitate their integration into society.
She emphasized the importance of combating hate speech that divides and impoverishes communities, calling for education in respect, as human dignity knows no borders or races. She called for unity in the fight against the reactionary wave, emphasizing that feminism is not against anyone and encouraging alliances for equality.
Chivite highlighted the dangers of misinformation and populism, which pose a risk to democracy. She advocated for critical thinking to distinguish truth from falsehood and celebrated the weakening of the Vox parliamentary group, hoping that the Trumpist project loses followers in Navarra.
María Chivite emphasized that defending Spain means defending Navarra’s self-government, criticizing the PP for its attacks on the regional government. She ensured that the last three legislatures without UPN in power were prosperous years, despite challenges like the pandemic and geopolitical issues.
She expressed pride in the collective work done in Navarra, celebrating its diversity and success. She acknowledged the fear of the rising reactionary wave globally but stressed the importance of standing firm and working towards a stronger socialist party to lead Navarra into the future.
