Zaragoza avanza en accesibilidad universal con apoyo de entidades sociales.

The mayor of Zaragoza, Natalia Chueca, accompanied by the Municipal Minister of Social Policies, Marian Oórs, visited the headquarters of the Adislaf Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides housing, training, and autonomy to people with intellectual disabilities and praised the activity because it contributes to the city progressing in universal access.

At their facilities, located in the Las Fuentes district, the mayor learned that the new residence was completed in 2024, the multiservice cabinet, the focused care daytime center, the foundation’s music group, and choir, in addition to having a dialogue with families.

The Zaragoza Local Council economically collaborates with the ADISLAF Foundation through subsidies for social actions. Specifically, the entity accessed two grants for the period 2024-2025 for the development of two projects: one aimed at psychosocial integration, work, and leisure, and another to prevent the dependence of people with intellectual disabilities.

The mayor congratulated the Adista officials for their work and encouraged all members of the organization to offer their proposals for the development of the new universal accessibility strategic plan for Zaragoza, which is now in the citizen participation phase.

The approval of this plan, which will be further developed through accessibility plans by areas, is another step towards implementing accessibility and rights, with the goal of transforming Zaragoza into the most accessible city in Europe. This regulation received the Queen Letizia Accessibility Award.

Additionally, at the end of May, the Municipal Council will open the new accessibility office at the Palacio de Los Morlanes, a space designed to listen to the needs, ideas, and proposals to improve families and social entities.

In this way, the city of Zaragoza aims to continue advancing in the implementation of universal accessibility measures, not only in the physical field but also emphasizing cognitive accessibility.

For this, the accessibility ordinance and other citizen documents, such as the registry, information related to disabilities, or water procedures and services, were adapted to easy reading; Icons were incorporated into sports and cultural facilities, as well as city taxis; Municipal websites and applications have been adapted to a simpler language; Inclusive public interchanges will also be opened in strategic areas of the city for people with severe disabilities and significant mobility limitations.
