Revisión del traslado de menores del Centro Ateca en Aragón tras decreto de cierre preventivo judicial
El Gobierno de Aragón ha informado que el Instituto Aragonés de Servicios Sociales -specifically the Subdirectorate of Child Protection and Guardianship and the Provincial Directorate of the IASS in Zaragoza- is already addressing the transfer of minors from the Ateca center (Zaragoza) to other resources in the Community after receiving authorization from the judge in Calatayud who is handling the case against the director and four workers of the Ateca center -two educators and two assistants-.
All of them, currently detained, are being investigated for alleged crimes of bodily harm, torture, sexual assault, offenses against moral integrity, corruption of minors, and membership in a criminal group.
The Vice President of the Government of Aragón, Mar Vaquero, expressed her «absolute collaboration» in clarifying the reported incidents and offered the collaboration of the Department of Social Welfare and Family and the Aragon Institute of Social Services (IASS).
The Ateca children’s center is privately managed, with a capacity for about 30 minors and has around twenty places under agreement within a framework whose care and protection is the responsibility of Aragón.
The government is considering the best way to relocate the young people housed in the Youth Center in the city of Zaragoza to other centers after the judge in Calatayud issued a ruling on precautionary measures, including the closure of the Ateca center.
The IASS stated that all actions taken in recent hours and those already underway are aimed at «ensuring the well-being and safety» of the minors currently under the custody and guardianship of the Administration. Additionally, the Government of Aragón announced that it will present itself as a victim in the case.
