Programa especial del metro para Semana Santa y restricciones en Puerta Jerez

Metro de Sevilla will improve the square offer by 63% during Holy Week and extend its regular program until 2:00 in the morning, except for the early hours of Great Friday, where uninterrupted service will be offered.

As the board of directors reported in a note, the suburb attached to the public works agency will serve the passion and the palm on Saturday from 7:30 am to 2:00 am. Dolores on Friday and Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday it will operate from 6:30 am to 2:00 am.

Maundy Thursday, work will start at 7:30 am and will run uninterrupted through the night, maintaining operation until 2:00 am from Friday to Holy Saturday. Holy Saturday, work will start at 7:30 am and end at 2:00 am.

The planned device for Holy Week increases the transport offer compared to a normal week, provides greater coverage, and introduces double trains at intervals, meeting various user requirements depending on the influx recorded.

More than half a million travelers (527,620) used the metro to move during Holy Week in 2024, where rain prevented processing from Wednesday to Resurrection Sunday. This figure is far from the demand recorded by Suburban during Holy Week when weather conditions are favorable, as in 2023 when all the brotherhoods processed and 737,527 displaced were recorded by the metro.

To facilitate service and passenger transit and in accordance with recommendations received from security forces, access to the Puerta Jerez station will be restricted, which will only be the departure station starting at 1:30 pm. Until the service closes, on Passion Saturday, from April 12 to April 18.

Since the metro offers uninterrupted service from Maundy Thursday to Good Friday at 2:00 am, the entrance restriction at Puerta Jerez will remain active throughout Good Friday. On April 19, there will be no access restriction.

During these periods when the station will only be an exit point, passengers can exit the train and exit at Puerta Jerez station, while access to the metro must be arranged at Plaza de Cuba station if heading towards the city center and at Prado station in San Sebastián if heading to Olive Grove de Quintos Travels.

Finally, the fact that the high flow makes these days busier than usual, Metro de Sevilla recommends planning trips in advance and that passengers top up their cards beforehand. For this, users have, in addition to automatic distributors, online top-up through the web application or smartphones, as well as the direct validation system with a bank card or mobile terminal, known as «Tap & Go».
