Furthermore, the National University of San Marcos (Lima), where Mario Vargas Llosa studied in the 1950s, and the renowned University of Madrid, where he pursued his Doctorate in Romance Philology, also expressed their heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and admirers of the author in Peru.

«Our university community deeply laments the irreparable loss of the most emblematic Sanmarquino, whose memory will live on imperishably through his extensive literary contributions,» stated the National University of San Marcos, referring to Vargas Llosa as «the most notable intellectual» in their vast literary history.

Likewise, the Complutense University in Madrid, where Vargas Llosa obtained his Ph.D. in Philosophy and Letters in the 1970s, also mourned his passing.

«UCM profoundly mourns the death of Mario Vargas Llosa, the Nobel Prize-winning author and Doctor of our University in 1971. We join in the sorrow for the loss of one of the great contemporary writers and undoubtedly one of the most prominent figures in Spanish literature,» expressed UCM.
