El Gazeta Oficial A ExtMedura (DOE) published a decree declaring it on Monday. Autonomous commercial interest project for the project presented by Yuneng International Company (Spain) New energy battery material, SLU, to implement a Manufacturing plant for lithium iron phosphate batteries in Mérida.
The project’s qualification as a reward will have the effects provided for in Article 3 of Law 5/2022, November 25, regarding measures to improve administrative response processes to citizens and for the useful provision of public services.
The project includes the creation of a new company, with a planned investment volume exceeding 125 million euros and a job creation of 160 UTA, according to the Extremadura Council in a press release.
As emphasized, the activity to be carried out is the implementation of a factory for the manufacture of materials for lithium iron phosphate batteries, a project that the regional executive qualifies as «of great strategic relevance at the local, regional, and national levels» for its role in manufacturing zero-emission electric systems.
The plant will be located in the municipality of Mérida, specifically in the Expacio Mérida Business Park, Plot I-103, which has an area of 467,261 square meters.
It should be noted that now, Hunan Yuneng is obliged to make investments associated with the implementation of a battery material factory, in the municipality of Mérida, for an amount exceeding 6 million euros.
Additionally, in the first year of operation, it must create a work level of more than 15 UTA, have a corporate social responsibility strategy approved by the Company, and have an approved equality plan.
It must also provide all necessary information and documents, within the deadlines for this, by the autonomous commercial interest project unit.
The company, as reported by the Company itself, aims to invest 800 million euros in the construction of a battery factory in the regional capital and will mean the creation of approximately 500 direct jobs, becoming the first factory in Europe.
