United left PCE in La Rioja on Sunday, in honor of April 14, with a «republican departure» to «provide solutions to the problems of citizenship.» They did so today with a caravan that departed from the Local Council of Plaza Logroño to Barranca, where a public event took place.
This was supported by the general coordinator of Rioja, Diego Mendiola, who stated, «We support a republican solution once again to provide solutions to the citizens and, at this moment, in the European context, where war, rearmament, and the race of arms resonate, we must remember that the Republic is synonymous with peace.»
«The Republic explicitly renounces war in its constitutional articles and, therefore, we must demand the Republic and its defense of peace, the defense of the world of work, culture, and social progress.»
On his part, Julio Martínez, Secretary of PCE in Rioja, explained, «Today we are all here who desire the Second Republic and want to create a third that fundamentally strengthens the ideas of freedom, social justice, and peace.»
«We are in a time where many governments resort to militarization that resolves nothing, all it does is purchase American surplus and defend the diplomatic route, meaning we must end the war.» he said.
Lastly, Henar Moreno, spokesperson for IU in the Parliament of Rioja, emphasized, «Here we are to support the Republic.»
«The Republic is a support that we need to reclaim,» said Moreno, who highlighted that it «honors those who gave their lives to defend the republican values, the right to public education, public health, equality between men and women, and the construction of a world that allows social justice and, ultimately, declares peace, renouncing war as a tool of national policy.»
The scheduled events will continue until the morning of April 14, the anniversary of the Proclamation of the Second Republic, with the traditional meal of the Brotherhood, in this case, Capparronade in Fuenmayor, to conclude on Monday evening at 7:00 pm with a gathering for the Third Republic, at the fuse, in front of the government delegation in the community.
