El plan de gestión del lobo estuvo vigente sin cuestionamientos

Xunta de Galicia defends the wolf management plan, which is once again in force in 2021, after abandoning the species, ensuring that «it had been in force for 12 years without being questioned,» so they understand that the law «supports them.»
The Association for the Conservation and Study of the Iberian Wolf (ASTEL) filed an appeal against the resolution published last Friday regarding the inclusion of wolves in the annual hunting regulation.
In this regard, environmental department sources insist that wolf management will «permanently respect current regulations,» thus requiring «maximum peace.»
They explain that, once the law excluding wolf populations north of Duero from the plan ceased to be in effect, they reverted to the previous situation in 2021.
Therefore, the Xobo Xebos plan was resumed in 2009, which includes wolf control measures for recurrent damage to livestock farms.
«Hunting of the species is generally prohibited, allowing beatings, waiting, or hunting only in those special situations and under strict administrative control,» they say.
With this, they continue to try to «restore balance» between protecting species and animal activities, emphasizing that attacks increased by 76% in 2021.
«This association in Galicia is doing what it has already done in other communities, but we understand that the law supports us because we have resumed a plan that has been in force for over 12 years without being questioned,» they say.
