El Parlamento de Galicia reproduce el póster de cigarrillo sobre Fabiola García sin el voto BNG y con la abstención de PSDEG.

The Galician Parliament failed in the CIG Poster on the Minister of Social Policy, Fabiola García, through an initiative presented by the PP and demanded by the leader of BNG, Ana Pontón, who «rejects the sexist content» of the posters.

The text was discussed in the plenary session, Wednesday, without BNG participating. It did not have the support of the socialist group, which opted for the harshness of an initiative that received 39 votes in favor and none against.

The CIG campaign in which they caricatured Fabiola García sparked a significant debate at Pazo do Hórreo, with mentions on almost all points of the agenda of the plenary session organized days after March 8, International Women’s Day.

Throughout the two days of the session, the PP wanted to focus on what they describe as a «disgusting brochure» and the response, in their opinion, insufficient from BNG to question the feminist commitment and, in particular, that of their national spokesperson, Ana Ponton.

«Oh, Ana Pontón is a coward or does not have the power to confront the conviction of UPG and CIG.

«The only campaign of the PP on March 8 is to attack BNG and Ana Pontón,» said Frentista Noa Presas, who, as she did under her care with the Ministry of Social Policy and Equality in her appearance on Tuesday afterwards, insisted that the bloc «already said» that the poster «does not seem appropriate.»

«But this does not matter to the PP,» added the deputy, who believes that the PP intends to «be a ventriloquist» of their «lie» and orchestrated «hoax» to «attack» the already «the only spokesperson of the Galician parliament» to cover their nervousness «before a consolidated leader.» «We will not fall for their strategy of lessons,» she added.

All of this, before the BNG parliamentary group refused to position itself before the initiative that focused on its line, crossed by the «cowardly» and «normalizing the vexatious treatment» of a woman serving in a public office.

According to Raquel Arias, Pontón «uses her status as a woman to avoid being attacked» with the aim of «unique victimization,» not questioning the CIG, who sends a «lethal message» to society that «there are women who deserve more protection than others.»

In the debate, the deputy Elena Espinosa was responsible for defending the position of PSDEG, which censured «a slimy and full of sexist prejudices,» embodied in an «intolerable» poster that judges Fabiola García «for her physical appearance and her way of dressing.

However, the socialist group decided to abstain after the PP refused to vote on the points of the initiative, which, in addition to the campaign and the direct message to BNG and its leader, also includes a third point of generic conviction for any manifestation that violates the principle of equality or denigrates women.

Previously, Elena Espinosa emphasized that her party «is very clear» that she is president «to condemn» macho behaviors «from wherever they come.»

In a block of initiatives that were discussed, four proposals unrelated to equality, in addition to the PP, a socialist group urges the autonomous government to develop a shock plan to reduce the wage gap that persists between women and men has been approved.

The text, approved with the support of the PP and PSOE and «No» from BNG, was debated in the afternoon session on Tuesday, after being presented by the deputy Carme Rodríguez Dacosta, who focused on the fact that women still record «higher unemployment, lower occupation, and lower wages.»

Therefore, the Galician Parliament asks the Ministry of Employment to develop a strategy aimed at reducing the wage gap, «combating» inequality in access to different occupations, and articulating measures to favor the incorporation of women in «extremely male-dominated sectors and sectors,» so that the «glass ceiling» of access to management positions.

On the other hand, the absolute majority enjoyed by the PP brought two texts presented by the opposition that, by the BNG, demanded the creation of an «equality» that guarantees the non-discrimination of women throughout society and, by the socialists, requested a training strategy in equal positions for public and official positions.

Both were rejected by the opposing position of the PP, which justified that, first of all, it understands that «already» organizations that perform the functions that BNG has given to the accused «Value equality.» As for the second, debated on Wednesday morning, the deputy Noelia Pérez praised the Central Government for taking measures that are not approved for the training of public employees.
