El alcalde de Zaragoza ofrece ayuda de 400 euros al mes a empresas con pérdidas económicas.

The mayor of Zaragoza, Natalia Chueca, announced assistance of 400 euros per month for car owners, businesses, and companies affected by municipal works that have caused economic losses since the first quarter and can apply until the end of the works. The assistance can be requested this week after the City of Zaragoza’s Economic Area works with merchant associations to explain the details of this initiative for SMEs and self-employed individuals affected by the municipal works. Chueca made this announcement during a visit to the renovation work on Navarra Avenue, which is 50% complete and will finish in October. The sidewalks will be significantly expanded, as well as green areas, facilitating the coexistence between vehicles, bicycles, pedestrians, and different forms of traffic.

She mentioned that these works have «great benefits» not only in improving the quality of life for residents and the beauty of the city but also in better maintenance and use of natural resources, such as energy-efficient LED lighting and the renewal of supply networks, and have a substantial impact on the revitalization of businesses. However, she acknowledged that during long-term works, residents and businesses often experience disruptions and, in many cases, significant loss of customers and revenue, which is why this direct assistance program is being implemented.

The goal is to provide assistance to all companies affected by the planned works carried out by the Municipal Council, which have not seen street and road renovations for many years. In addition to the renovation of Navarra Avenue, other upcoming projects like Catalonia Avenue, Cesaraugusta, Gil Morlanes Street, and the construction of the new Portillo Park will bring significant changes to the city’s infrastructure. All streets affected by the municipal works will have the right to request direct assistance of 400 euros per month, a level of support that has not been provided before.

According to Chueca, over 250 companies may benefit from this assistance, with an initial budget of 150,000 euros that could be extended to 400,000 euros if necessary. These subsidies will complement the existing tax breaks for economic activities and the long-term works program that has been activated as needed.

Chueca emphasized that these policies are not a one-time incident but part of a comprehensive city strategy that involves ongoing dialogue with residents and businesses. She thanked the VOX councilors for their support in approving the 2025 budget and reaching agreements on key issues related to supporting businesses, generating wealth and employment, and enhancing the local community.

In conclusion, Chueca expressed pride in the local retail sector and assured continued support for small businesses in the years to come. She believes that the assistance provided will be well-received and will help businesses overcome the temporary inconveniences caused by the ongoing works, leading to increased foot traffic and sales.

VOX’s municipal group spokesperson, Julio Calvo, thanked the mayor for addressing long-standing concerns of residents on Navarra Avenue, who have been awaiting renovations. He also appreciated the receptiveness of the government team, especially in allocating assistance to small businesses. Calvo highlighted the collaboration between VOX and the government team in addressing the challenges faced by local businesses during street renovations and compensating affected merchants.

He concluded by reminding Chueca about the pending last phase of Avenue Avenue and expressed confidence in a swift resolution to any remaining issues, ensuring that residents in the area can soon enjoy the completed project.
