Convocatoria de ayuda en Rioja para mejorar servicios públicos en pequeños municipios por 1.9 millones

The Official Gazette of La Rioja (BOR) published today the call for subsidies to small municipalities, local minor entities, and population centers separate from the main exercise of 2025.

This line of assistance, aimed at covering actions to improve public services in municipalities with fewer than 300 inhabitants, has a total budget of 1,931,996 euros.

This allocation, managed by the Ministry of Social Policy, Infrastructure, and the fight against depopulation, increased by 303,996 euros compared to the 1,628,000 euros recorded last year, representing an 18.67% increase.

From the amount allocated this year, 1,316,700 euros are reserved for small municipalities, 45,796 euros for local minor entities, and 569,500 euros for population centers separated by the director. The maximum subsidized amount will be 11,449 euros for municipalities and local entities, and 8,628 euros for centers.

These subsidies aim to provide services either in full or partially between January 1, 2025, and the date presented, with invoices issued during that period. In other words, 115 municipalities, four local minor entities (Quintanar de Rioja, Morales, Santa Lucía, and Villas de Rioja), and 66 population centers can apply.

The beneficiaries of these subsidies will be municipalities in the autonomous community of La Rioja, whose population by law as of January 1, 2024, according to official figures from the National Institute of Statistics, does not exceed three hundred inhabitants.

The drafting of technical or management projects, as well as road cleaning actions, among others, are included as substantial actions. The deadline for submitting applications will start next Monday, the 31st, and end on October 15 of this year.

As a novelty and participation in municipalities’ applications, starting this year, the value of this subsidy can be allocated to debt servicing and debt reduction from credit operations entered into before January 1, 2025.

The granting of subsidies to population centers separated by the director was a novelty promoted by the government in Rioja in the last year, in its commitment to combating depopulation in all corners of the territory, no matter how small.
