Celebración del Día Internacional de Circus en el Teatro Price

The Price Circus Theatre, a space in the field of culture, tourism, and sports, becomes the epicenter of art in April. On the occasion of International Circus Day, which takes place on the third Saturday of April, this year on the 19th, Price has prepared a diverse program designed to celebrate the richness, history, and constant renewal of this discipline.
Pagagnini, A «dissemination» by the Ylalana company
Between April 17 and 19, one of Ylalana’s most applauded shows. In collaboration with violinist Malikian, Paginano is a «dissemination» where four virtuoso musicians reinterpret classical music with humor, giving the audience an unrepeatable experience that merges musical genius with clowning.
With over three decades of experience, Ylalana has established itself as one of the most innovative and recognized companies in the scenic and international panorama. Their distinctive hallmark, based on visual humor, satire, and a vibrant stage, has captivated audiences worldwide. With Paginano, Ylalana achieves a perfect balance between musical virtuosity and physical comedy, breaking down barriers between genres and bringing classical music to all audiences in an accessible, playful, and deeply original way.
Ciralizado: A look at the circus from different disciplines
Price, in its ambition to build bridges between the circus and other art forms, also proposes in April Ciralizado, which brings together three proposals around the history and magic of this historical space in Madrid.
On April 20, at 11:00, ¡Brincar! will take place, the first theatrical journey after Price, with the touch of absurd theater. This original activity invites the audience to discover the secrets of the center through an immersive and playful experience. The tour, led by historical and fictional characters, stops at the iconic corners of the building and examines the imprint that artists, writers, illusions, and spectators have left over 150 years of history. An opportunity to relive Price’s glorious past, learn about its most curious anecdotes, and feel the circus’s excitement from a theatrical and participatory perspective.
The second proposal comes in collaboration with Madridinería. Between April 17 and 20, the Circo Price Theatre presents a cycle of cinema and circus where some films will be shown that explore the circus as a universe of wonder and emotion. Madrid’s Cineteca will showcase the films Sombras y niebla (Woody Allen, 1991), El sol del futuro (Nanni Moretti, 2023), Los Clovni (Federico Fellini, 1970), Dumbo (Tim Burton, 2019), and Circo (Charles Chaplin, 1928).
Accompanying these screenings, before the Saturday and Sunday sessions, discussions will take place with Jara Yañez and Fausto Ansaldi (before the film Los Clovni), and Santiago Aguilar and Javier Jiménez (before the film Circo). Also, after Dumbo, viewers can interact with two of the actors who appear in it: Miguel Muñoz and Mayor Zenaida.
Finally, on April 21, at 7:30 p.m. at Athenaeum in Madrid, a theater interview with Thomas Price (played by Pepe Vikuela) will be held, and along with actors, actresses, circus artists, and magicians, a reading of the book Biografía de circo by Jaime por Armiñan will be organized.
