Acuerdo entre Sargadelos y Xunta para reactivar planta de Cervo.

The management of Sargadelos and the Ministry of Employment, Trade, and Emigration have reached an agreement to restart productive activity at the Cervo plant in Lugo, «as soon as possible».

According to sources consulted by Europa Press, the agreement came after a meeting on Monday between Sargadelos’ administrator, Segismundo García, and the head of Employment, Trade, and Emigration of the Galician government, José González.

As time has passed, there is a commitment from the department and the company to conduct a study on possible improvements in worker protection.

The entity indicated that the labor inspection clarified on April 4 that the level of worker exposure is within legal limits, and the deficiencies identified do not pose an imminent risk to the workers. It also stated that «taking into account the special characteristics of the building, the terms indicated may be more flexible».

It also emphasized that the department offers full cooperation and sensitivity to Sargadelos to implement precise improvements for the workers’ health. Additionally, it explains that «if, as a result, it is necessary to undertake new work to adapt the facilities, the Xunta is committed to supporting their achievement, taking into account the special uniqueness of the facilities, classified as a Good Cultural Interest (BIC)».
