Xunta destaca la importancia del idioma gallego en el sistema educativo.

Xunta emphasized, on the eve of the celebration of Mother Language Day, on Friday, February 21, that the educational system «works» when it ensures knowledge among the youngest in the Galician language.
The Minister of Culture, José López, and Education, Román Rodríguez, participated in the implementation of Xunta’s programming on Wednesday on the occasion of the language, which began with the students of the Maestro Rodríguez Xixirea Collegio Xixirei, enjoying the activity «Ecoralia, Lambona Ecoloxica».
Speaking to the media launched by the regional government in a press release, the ministry pointed out that Galicia enjoys a «great linguistic diversity» and that «the educational system works because skills are guaranteed».

Institute reviewed Galician competition data in the different educational stages to conclude that «there is a balance between Spanish and Galician language subjects».
Román Rodríguez stated that «in the different educational stages, the results of the final grades are very similar, demonstrating students’ skills in both subjects».
Education Department data emphasize that 91% of students in high school pass Spanish, a percentage that increases to 92% in the case of Galician, with «very similar» average grades (6.25 for the former and 6.39 for the latter).
In university entrance exams, the average grade is 7.03 for the Spanish exam and 6.56 in Galician; While in high school and secondary school, 95% of students finishing sixth grade pass in Spanish and 92% in Galician.
In this case, the average grades are 7.26 in Spanish and 7.17 in Galician. In high school, the pass rate is exactly the same, 86%, and the average grades are 6.08 in Spanish and 6.19 in Galician.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Education also held a meeting on Wednesday with the rectors of the three universities of Galicia, a level that currently carries out its activity in other countries.
This foundation, which will have a budget of «more than 35 million euros,» is looking for references in strategic knowledge areas for Galicia, as Xunta explained.
Furthermore, on Wednesday, the procedure for the public consultation for the collection of citizens for the preparation of the Galician digital education law, with which Xunta intends to «protect the rights and duties of the new digital reality,» began to ensure «quality» and equity.
Until March 10, the educational community and the general public can incorporate their suggestions into the text, which the regional government aims to have ready for implementation in 2026.
In addition, the Department of Education activated a «broad» round of contacts with representatives of parents who will become more collectively involved in the development of these future autonomous regulations on Wednesday.
