The president Xuntei, Alfonso Ruda, confirmed «many praises» by Stelantis directors on how the sector operates in Galicia and «Viitorul» in the company’s plans (with an emphasis on the VIGO plant), and found it «very receptive». They also conveyed that governments and the EU must «take action» to promote competitiveness in a «very difficult» scenario.

Accompanied by the Minister of Economy and Industry, María Jesús Lorenzana, the head of the autonomous executive, Alfonso Rueda, traveled to Turin to meet with the Chief Operating Officer of the extended European region of the Stellantis group, Jean-Philippe Emperato, and other company representatives.

In concluding remarks to the media, Rueda thanked Oddos at the helm of Stellantis in Europe and confirmed that the leaders of the Vigo factory were also receptive, along with the rest of the Galician delegation, offering them «the opportunity to explain the presence in Galicia of the most productive factory in Spain.»

«He was perfectly aware, said it had excellent production,» said the Galician president, emphasizing that Empero was aware of the relevance to the auxiliary industry of each Galicia, especially for which it has its headquarters in the Vigo area.

«We have recorded export figures and a very significant portion of these numbers for a long time and all that involves the production of automotive industries in Galicia,» he said.

In this context, Rueda used his meeting with Stellantis directors to convey that the Factory and the sector in Galicia are «fundamental» and to highlight the «efforts» made by the Regional Executive to «strengthen the entire ecosystem, the entire industrial contracting, those quality jobs that are very present in Galicia» and IN «» and In «»

«In a competitive world like the automotive one, with so many dangers that I pursue at this moment, we want above all, that they have a future,» he warned, before referring to investments of «approximately 250 million euros from Xunta funds to help not only the factory, but also the entire auxiliary industry.»

The goal, he added, is for the Galician government to «accompany them» in the «transition derived from the energy transition itself that is seen in the industrial world.» «We exposed what we do in digitization and internationalization and work specialization,» he said.

For the regional president, it is «very important» that Stellantis officials are «aware» of Xuntei’s «effort» and, therefore, value it. In this sense, he noted that he found the interlocutors «very receptive.»

«There have been many praises for how the automotive sector operates in Galicia, how organized it is, and the future it holds for Stellantis’ plans,» he said.

As a counterpart and, therefore, stated, the company sees the need to «take action,» which depends on the governments involved and the EU itself to be «competitive» in terms of the rest of the countries, given the complicated situation that «requires a special effort.»

«But I think it was necessary and they recognized it, listen first to what we do and the need for this entire industrial ecosystem that exists in Galicia, not only to acquire current security, but also in the future,» he urged.

Finally, he emphasized the government’s willingness to «continue working through the main responsible for Stellantis in Europe, so they know that in Vigo, in Galicia, there is a production center that has the full support of Xunta and all guarantees of stability, to grow in an equally difficult time.»
