This exchange of messages occurred in the months leading up to the primaries that the Andalusian PSOE had to hold before the summer of 2021, ending in June to choose the party leader for the upcoming regional elections, in which she participated and lost, being replaced the following month as the new general secretary of PSOE-A.
In this context, according to a message Ábalos sent to Sánchez, betting on a «new period» for the PSOE in Andalusia, the PSOE leader and the President of the government commented that «the other, Susana, yes, she’s screwed.» «Of course,» replied the then Secretary of Organization of the PSOE, according to the «screenshot» attached to the newspaper «El Mundo» to illustrate the information published last Sunday.

The former president added that «a political position cannot be later applied to everything we experience» and stressed that after the Andalusian elections in 2018, where the PSOE was again the most voted party but fell short of an absolute majority and lost the government of the Board of Directors for the first time in the autonomy’s history, as well as «three years».
«My father, who has already passed away, endured that punishment, and I suffered a lot, and it is true that I did not hold resentment, I received love within and outside the PSOE, which helped me stand up, keep going, look ahead, and now what I am seeking is for the future, not the past,» Susana continued on Monday.
In any case, the current senator appointing the Andalusian parliament stated that she «did not understand the process» that took place in the Andalusian PSOE and «did not understand some things that she had to experience firsthand», but «one thing is not understanding and another is reading it,» she added.
The Andalusian president added that «defending how you believe your party should be in Spain is not incompatible with wanting your party to win and do well, and I learned that from (Alfredo Pérez) Rubalcaba,» he emphasized that she believes that «loyalty does not mean» surrounding herself with those who «bow down to us,» this, based, furthermore, solely on the disagreement of a party group, is very painful.»
