Uco informa que Ábalos adquirió una propiedad en Colombia en 2003 por más de dos millones de euros.
The Central Operation Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard reported the case of «Koldo» to the Supreme Court (TS), Leopoldo Puente, that former Minister of Transport, José Luis Ábalos, acquired a property in Colombia for over two million Madrid, three letters, and an engine.
The report, accessed by Europa Press, explains that in a hard drive intervened by Ábalos’ former ministerial advisor, Koldo García, two documents were found reflecting that Ábalos purchased on October 17, 2003, the property at Mirador Del Carmen (Moralia, Colombia) for the company Hoyos Peláz with 2.137.88.37.37.37.
UCO adds that in the same digital file called «La Marina-Tuluá», where the aforementioned documents were, there are several photos corresponding to a construction house. The images, included in the report, depict a villa.
Regarding this property, Ábalos claimed, in statements to Europe Press, that it was a mistake for which professionalism has been questioned because he bought it for 2.3 million Colombian pesos, which at the time exchange rate would be approximately 8,000 euros. Additionally, he mentioned that he sold it in 2013 for double the price.
Investigators also found that Ábalos would be the owner of two properties in Peru, which would constitute a training center for Fiadelso, the International Foundation for Local and Social Development, whose land he allegedly purchased for 823.58 euros.
UCO explains that «this society was dissolved in 2023,» but it is of interest because «the connection between Ábalos and the family environment with Fiadelso has lasted over the years, reaching today.»
In Valencia, UCO also identifies Ábalos as the owner of a ground floor purchased in 2020 with his partner for 90,000 euros with a 50,000 mortgage. The report highlights that, in a computer seized in the alleged plot arrest of Aldama Víctor, there was a sales contract for Mediterranean locks and another file setting the operation value at 110,000 euros. Finally, in 2022, the former socialist leader was fully paid for 187,035 euros, Anuda.
Furthermore, in Valencia, UCO points out that Ábalos had rented this ground floor to Koldo for 950 euros per month, although it later became the registered office of external commercial programs, managed by the former minister’s relatives.
Related to 265 bank accounts, mostly from PSOE
On the other hand, it is mentioned that Ábalos owns three cars: a 2008 Range Rover purchased in 2021; a 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan bought in 2022; and a 2003 Toyota Rav 4 acquired in 2013. Additionally, he owns a 1967 Lambretta motorcycle acquired in 1979.
UCO considers the acquisition of the Range Rover «remarkable» as it was purchased in Calazados Achacha for 15,000 euros with the intervention of Koldo’s brother, Joseba García, and an intermediary, Bernardo Castillo, who would belong to Aldama’s inner circle at that time.
According to the report, Ábalos also appears «as the holder, co-owner, representative, or authorized signatory in a total of 265 bank accounts,» with 258 of them «linked» to PSOE, where other individuals as real and/or representatives participate.
Concerning personal accounts, there are «five shared financial products» with one of his former spouses, as well as two accounts held by two of his children in which they are the representatives. It also emphasizes an account where he is the sole holder and another where he is held by two partners, which would be «the result of his connection with Fiadelso.» A mortgage for 73,125 euros and two loans for 57,000 euros each.
A loan for Ábalos’ girlfriend
UCO also states that Ábalos «was interested in granting a mortgage» for his partner since late 2020, identified by the acronym of the ATM, «aimed at the purchase of real estate.» Specifically, the messages between the former minister and his former advisor «show how Koldo, at Ábalos’ request, makes efforts with a financial institution to obtain a loan of 130,000 euros.»
The agents say that from these messages, it is evident that «when the bank manager asked Koldo about a point of contact to address issues related to the sale, evaluation, and other matters, Ábalos, whether contact would be made with him or her, was proposed as a valid interlocutor.»
According to UCO, «it is significant that on April 19, 2024, ATM purchased two properties for 125,000 euros.» Specifically, an industrial use room in Madrid and a parking space located in the same area.
Moreover, the report emphasizes that the ATM founded GalvanoStudio SLU in June 2023, contributing with a house located in Rivas as a residence. «From the analysis of the electronic devices intervened, conversations between Koldo and Ábalos were located, reflecting that the latter would have shared that residence with ATM,» say the agents.
Specifically, the parliamentarian shared with his former advisor a connection with the advertisement to rent that property. «I think I’ll rent this (…) 1800 months. Just like the flat,» said the former minister. «Good House Ostias (…) is expensive while empty,» Koldo replied. However, Ábalos mentioned that there are no other houses of a «lesser style.»
Koldo’s brother came to talk to the ATM to help them move to that new house. «Hi Joseba, when you can give me a call, it’s to organize ourselves with the move,» he wrote.
Additionally, and concerning the former minister, the agents also reveal messages in which Ábalos «asks Koldo for the proceeds of the funds to be deposited in the ATM’s bank accounts.» Among them, they indicate deposits of 200, 333, or 1,000 euros.
