Transporte sanitario con dron entre Beas de Segura y Villacarrillo (Jaén)

The project U-Evance allowed two different airspace spaces in Andalusia to be connected on Tuesday in the U Air space for the transport of medical supplies with drones between Beas de Segura and Villacarrillo, in the province of Jaén. The Atlas Alpha and Atlas Bravo Centers of the Advanced Center for Aerospace Technologies (CATC) organized this «new stage» within the aforementioned initiative, according to this entity.
The project aims to demonstrate how the use of unmanned aerial systems can help provide solutions for transporting health materials in remote or difficult access areas, improving accessibility. To do this, a real flight demonstration was carried out. UAS TARSIR (fixed corrective system without operation) weighing 75 kilograms, two multi-rotor drones, three complete flight teams from the Spanish company Airtec and the University of Seville and the University of Seville, participated in a coordinated manner.
In addition, health personnel from the SSG Foundation intervened with the CATC, Pildolabs, and Lenaire platforms and ITG, the Technological Institute of Galicia. It was emphasized that it is also the first in Europe to carry out a control transfer operation («teaching») in the flight of a fixed drone of these dimensions between two separate stations with 23 kilometers.
All operations carried out during the demonstration were monitored in real-time through the platforms for the provision of U-Space services (USSP) developed by Enaire and ITG. In turn, Enaire acted as a single provider of common intelligence services (CISP), thus validating the safe integration of these technologies in the European airspace.
In the context of the European digital sky, the European Union has defined space as an ecosystem of digital services and specific procedures aimed at managing in a safe, efficient, and automated manner, especially in areas with a high volume of flights or near airports. Within this implementation, Enaire was appointed as the sole provider of common intelligence services (CISP) in Spain. This role positions Enaire as a connection between conventional air navigation service providers and new digital drone operators.
Thanks to the U-space platform, the entity assumes the responsibility of facilitating key exchange, contributing to an integrated and safe management of the airspace in designated U areas. The event that took place at the Atlas Center by Villacarrillo was attended by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Research, and Innovation of the Andalusian Government, Lorena Garrido; Deputy of Labor and Business, Luis Miguel Carmona; as well as the mayors of the municipalities, Francisco Miralles and José Alberto Rodríguez.
Representatives from the State Air Safety Agency (AESA), 061 Andalusia Health Center, Pegasus Adenoup, and Catechh-Atlas, as well as organizers from companies, airlines, and Enaire were also present. «Today we have seen the opportunities presented by U-space systems in unmanned aircraft operations, as well as the possibility of transferring a drone between two U-space airspaces. This enables U-Elcoms in Spain.»
This project (common implementation of U-Space) is a European initiative, technically managed by the company SESAR and funded by the European Agency for Climate, Infrastructure, and Environment. It aims to promote the safe and efficient integration of drones into airspace by showcasing S-Space services. It is coordinated by Eurocontrol and 51 members from across Europe, with U-space flight demonstrations in 15 locations in Spain, Italy, and France. In Spain, it is being developed in eight autonomous communities: Andalusia, Aragon, Canary Islands, Catalonia, Valencia, Galicia, Madrid, and Navarra.
The project aims to promote the adoption of basic U1 and U2 services, facilitating the safe integration of drones into European airspace.
