PSOE busca acuerdos para proteger sector de tarifas de Trump
The Secretary General of PSOE in La Rioja, Javier García, called on the regional government president, Gonzalo Capellán, for «dialogue» among all political forces and «agreements and measures of scope» to help protect the productive sectors in Rioja affected by the Donald Trump tariff.
«Political representatives argue and do not agree, but in the capital problems in the region, we must remain as public representatives of citizens to contribute to solutions,» said García.
Therefore, the socialist leader in Rioja considers the «necessary action» for the impositions and recalls of Donald Trump, «as we did a month ago in the Parliament of Rioja.» Today from PSOE, «we once again provide collaboration, to stand shoulder to shoulder to take measures to allow us to work together, to work together.»

García believes that the arrival of Donald Trump in the White House «changes the world order and the global economy, which completely affects our economy.»
Given these threats, they positively appreciate the response of the Spanish Government, «with a mobilization of 14,100 million euros intended to mitigate the impact of that trade war.» It is, he said, «to weave a protective shield so that our companies and our economy help to maintain employment.»
Regarding Rioja, «it is important not to forget that we exported products to the United States for 116.8 million euros last year, representing a decrease of just over 3% from 2023.»
It is an «important market for the fundamental sectors for our identity and our economy, such as wine, wood, manufacturing, meat and fish, and footwear.»
There are more than 400 companies in Rioja «that have a commercial relationship with the United States, of which around 200 have regular commercial traffic with that country.» Of the latter, «the majority are wineries.»
In fact, yesterday the Spanish Wine Federation «warned of losses of 400 million euros due to Trump’s tariffs.» And it is warned from Rioja «of the loss of competitiveness in the United States, where we export wine for about 72 million euros.»
Javier García recalled that in the last legislature, during the first stage of Trump in the White House, the regional government of PSOE «responded with concrete measures that proved to be vital help for economic sectors.» Measures that were «from a 2 million euro assistance program or specialized advice, to help diversify markets and loans on favorable terms.»
