Octavio López destaca el papel del negocio familiar en los 75 años de Callizo Transport

The advisor for food, housing, logistics, and territorial cohesion are attending today, Saturday, the 75th anniversary celebration from the company’s headquarters in Celorado, Zaragoza.
In his speech, Octavio López highlighted the role of family businesses as a fundamental element of the Aragonese economy, particularly in the transport sector: «Family businesses play a crucial role in the region, and their journey is not without challenges, but the values passed down from parents are the best tool to adapt to the times,» he said.
«I am particularly attached to its founders, as the spirit of Enrique Callizo and Agustina Oliván prevails in Callizo Transport, the transport company founded in 1950 that is now celebrating 75 years.»
After acknowledging the role of this Aragonese family business, its trajectory, evolution, and ability to adapt to remain a significant company in the transport sector without losing its Aragonese essence, Octavio López outlined various measures implemented by his department to support the development of transport companies, including independent operators.
«We inherited the worst regional roads in Spain, but this situation will change drastically because last summer we kicked off an extraordinary road plan with an investment of 630 million euros to completely renew and improve 1,760 kilometers of our autonomous network, a road network that we will maintain in the coming year.»
Octavio López assessed the management of two assistance programs carried out by the General Directorate of Transport. «One of these programs focuses on fleet renewal with a budget of 14.7 million euros, while the other is aimed at company digitization projects, with an economic allocation of 1.6 million euros.»
Initially, López emphasized that they received 1,149 applications, with 70% already approved and scheduled for payment throughout the year. For the digitization program, 255 applications were submitted, and 90% have already been resolved.
In addition to managing these subsidies, the development department is working to enhance the safety and working conditions of transport sector employees. In this regard, a network of secure parking lots in different parts of Aragon is being designed, aimed at dignifying the profession of truck drivers and attracting more young people and women to join the industry.
To address the shortage of drivers faced by many transport companies, an agreement was signed with foreign entities and the General Traffic Directorate to streamline procedures for obtaining professional training certificates and allow drivers from third countries to work in the autonomous community. Additionally, an additional training course was introduced.
The President of the Aragon government, Jorge Azón, was unable to attend the 75th anniversary celebration of Callizo Transport but sent a congratulatory message to the family and employees of the company.
Azón emphasized the values passed down from parents to children as the best way to overcome challenges and achieve success in business. He described Callizo’s transport history as a success story, evident in its expansion over the decades and its current status as one of the most important companies in the transport sector in our autonomous community.
