Nuevo número de la revista eme21mag: «Refugiate en la cultura»
El 21 de mayo, the illustrated magazine of the Culture, Tourism, and Sports Zone, dedicates this month’s issue to the City Council’s campaign «Take refuge in culture.» Summer is also a good time to get closer to Madrid’s culture and visit its coolest spots: museums, cinemas, and libraries. Based on this slogan, the design team at Madrid Destino illustrated the cover of this issue and also developed the image for this cultural promotion campaign.
This issue 79 of El 21 de mayo is a refreshing guide to survive the summer temperatures, especially during those moments of the day when the thermometers reach high numbers. The contents of this month’s magazine revolve around this campaign with which the City Council of Madrid aims to encourage citizens to visit the city’s cultural spaces.
Live flamenco
The magazine opens its pages with an article signed by Marta Rivera de la Cruz, delegate of Culture, Tourism, and Sports, and illustrated by María Corte. Rivera de la Cruz explains what this campaign will consist of, in which, this summer, the cultural centers, libraries, and museums of the City Council will remain open, during the hottest hours, as a physical and spiritual refuge. Also planned, according to the delegate, are «various flamenco interventions, such as Drops of Water, that will tour the main museums of the capital. In addition to their works, visitors will be able to enjoy a live performance.»
Continuing with summer proposals, Daniel Montero Galán presents a series of curious facts related to summer and heat. Guisa proposes something practical and advisable A good guide for museum visitors, especially in the Museum of the History of the city. Cristina Llera imagines charming grandparents in search of the most refreshing drink.
In addition, Víctor Coyote sharpens his ear to listen to the most secret sounds of the Gerardo Diego Municipal Library. Ana Müshell walks through the works of Eduardo Chillida on the streets of Madrid. Gonzalo Izquierdo signs the map of the «Landscape of Light,» with all its cultural refuges such as the Cervantes Institute, the Fine Arts Circle, or the Royal Botanical Garden. Without leaving the «Landscape of Light,» Nacho Sevilla talks about the tree in the forest of Paseo del Prado, a long-lived and slender specimen that provides shade near the Prado Museum. And Javier Olivares continues with the adventures of Selva, who also seeks refuge and clues in a museum.
More cool paradises in the cultural agenda
Ignacio Vleming writes about the exhibition dedicated to the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, Notre Dame. Major exhibition, with illustration, «a match,» by Raúl Arias. The protagonist of the interview in this issue is the promoter of Cines Embajadores, Miguel Ángel Pérez. And the ABC Museum once again provided El 21 de mayo with some illustrations from its wonderful collection – in this case related to the summer of the people of Madrid and their diving into the past – accompanied by comments from Inmaculada Corcho Gómez, the museum’s director.
In the last pages of the magazine, you can see more of the cultural program of the Young Cultural Bonus, as well as the free activities for young people between 16 and 26 years old who are users of this bonus created by the City Council of Madrid.
