Matrimonio condenado por obligar a mujeres a prostituir en Ferrol y Narón.
The second section of the Provincial Court of A Coruña sentenced each member of a 53-year-old couple to eleven months in prison, as authors of a crime against public health, in the context of trafficking in accused annotations, a continuous crime of illegal immigration, and seven other sexual crimes.
The Court, as reported by the Superior Court of Justice of Galicia (TSXG), believes that since at least 2019, both individuals have been dedicated to the apartments in Ferrol and Narón «to achieve significant economic benefits through the exploitation of other women.»
In many cases, according to the judges in the sentence, «they organized the arrival of Paraguayan women to Spain from their country, violating foreign regulations in accessing the national territory, to engage in prostitution.»
The court adds that «in this lucrative and unique livelihood activity,» they had the daily collaboration of an acquaintance, who arrived from Seville in November 2021. This person was sentenced to 25 years in prison as the author of a crime against public health, regarding drug trafficking and acquisition.
It also points out that «the young women were forced to pay between 5,000 and 7,000 euros, debts whose monetary extent they did not always know exactly when accepting the arrangement, because they sometimes ignored the short repayment period» and that the only way to make money for this was through intensive practice of sexual services.»
Additionally, the judges believe that «the circumstances of the young, irregular strangers and the lack of economic and family support have led to a climate of isolation and a certain fear.»
The judges understand the dependency and submission of protected women in the apartments of Ferrol and Narón in relation to the accused, emphasizing that the evidence is «not only the control they have exerted over behavior, lifestyle, and external or internal activity outside of time and under slightly unreliable circumstances.»
«Moreover,» they add, «the submission they have accepted in admitting their orders or instructions before the rootless, irregular foreigners, and the previous and aggravated economic need due to the obligation to repay the debt and the money exceeding the border.»
«The core of the accusatory hypothesis is demonstrated by the information provided by the witnesses (almost all of them) being corroborated and consolidated by a wide array of other police testimonies, official documentation, banking or telephone records, recordings, expert testimonies, and other tools that support the immigration duo/project aimed at economic benefits.»
«And, on another collateral plane, drug trafficking,» explains the court. The sentence is not final, as an appeal can be made to the Superior Court of Justice of Galicia.
