Madrid da la bienvenida a la extravagante exposición de Joana Vasconcelos

The Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeid Flamenco. Joana Vasconcelos, Showing by the Casa de Alba Foundation and the Portuguese artist with the collaboration of the Municipal Council of Madrid, which can be visited at the Palacio de Liria tomorrow, February 14th and until July 31st.
During the visit, guests traveled through the different rooms where the works that make up the exhibition are displayed, distributed throughout the rooms and gardens of the Palacio Liria. The artist from Lisbon is one of the most notable creators in the contemporary art scene and is bringing his works for the first time to a large inhabited palace, unlike other interventions in historical spaces, such as the Palace of Versailles, which enters the exhibition in a special dialogue.
The exhibition is also an opportunity to explore the less frequented corners of the Palacio de Liria, where visitors can enjoy some of the artist’s most emblematic works. The exhibition route begins in the Neoclassical Hall of the Palace and from there, visitors can discover other more intimate spaces, such as the Chapel, which is open to the public for the first time, or the Palace Gardens, usually closed.
In the library, the work Carmen – A monumental lamp – Will Will Will With A Letter written by Prosper Mérimée, the author of the novel that inspired Bizet’s famous opera, strengthening the connection between contemporary art and historical artistic manifestations. The exhibition also includes iconic pieces by another artist, such as Marilyn and more recent works like Valkyrie Thyra. /
