Las gafas de realidad virtual muestran atracciones turísticas en Alcañiz

The first of the experiences that Alcañizos and visitors will be able to live with these glasses is related to the different manifestations of rock art of relic discovered and protected so far in Alcañiz. These spaces are Val del carbón del agua amarga, el Corral de Las Gas, Barranco del Murto, el más grande del obispo and el Regallo del Estrecho I.

This project is aimed at providing visibility to the layers that, due to their characteristics, are difficult to access.

The tourism project was presented by the Tourism Council, Belén Adam, with the help of the mayor of Alcañiz, Miguel Ángel Epan, as well as the experts who have collaborated in the project: the profession of prehistory at the University of Zaragza and researcher at the Institute of Heritage and Humanities (IPH), Manuel Bea, and the archaeologist and president of the Archaeology Workshop in Alcañiz, José Antonio Benavente.

Belén Adam explained that «by acquiring these virtual reality glasses, tourism and cultural heritage in Alcañiz will discover the touristic and cultural heritage in an immersive and current experience». The local company that designed this visual experience is RPAS.

On his part, Professor Manuel Bea, who participated in the study and documentation of all the sets of rock art in Alcañiz, wanted to emphasize that «the rock art of Alcañiz, especially the Val de la agua amarga is a unique heritage, which is part of the heritage of humanity because it is within the rock art of the Mediterranean arc.»

In addition, this application translates the scientific content that has been generated in these years of study, detailed. «The spherical videos, considering the bird’s eye view, give us a perspective of the location and the reality of the landscape in the layers of Alcañiz.»

Archaeologist José Antonio Benavente considered that this initiative «makes the archaeological legacy of Alcañiz available to the world». He recalled that «a decade ago, Alcañiz had only one rock art shelter and due to a suitable project, the archaeology workshop and Jesús Carlos Villanueva discovered up to six layers.»

The experience with the virtual reality glasses can be enjoyed from June 9 at the headquarters of the Ciba-Molino flour (Santa María Muro, S /N) from Monday to Sunday from 13:00 to 13:30. Pre-registration and availability verification at the travel office (turism@alcaniz.es /978 83 12 13).

The experience is aimed at people over 12 years old, with a cost of 3 euros per person and an estimated duration of 15 minutes.
