Las escuelas y los generadores en Galicia ante emergencias

The president of Xunte, Alfonso Ruda, announced the boost of protocols in various fields, such as education or health, aiming to «improve response capacity» in the face of an emergency, like the general power outage that affected Spain and Portugal 15 days ago.
It is not surprising, Ruda, who chaired the weekly meeting of his executive in Lugo, criticized the central government for the lack of information on the causes of the recent power outage. «It has been 15 days and we have no idea what happened, it takes a long time to find out,» he complained, concluding that, consequently, «it is difficult to anticipate that it will not happen again.»
In this context, Xunta has decided to protocolize certain issues that caused problems or confusion in the recent blackout, such as whether schools should open or not. The new regulations will aim to facilitate coordination, even if school activities need to be suspended.
In the healthcare field, Xunta will develop a specific protocol to ensure continuity in the care of electrodependent patients, either at home or by referring them to a healthcare center.
Likewise, the number of generators in primary care will be increased along the same line. «Many healthcare centers had one or more generators, but not all of them, so we will expand the number of generators in primary care centers,» he said.
The situation will also be reviewed in older residential facilities (the president emphasized that these centers already have a generator in all cases), and a «basic protocol» will be established to standardize emergency response procedures.
