The Ministry of Culture has activated damage assessment teams and mechanisms to begin the reconstruction of the Talavera de la Reina bridge, following the overflow of the Tagus River on Saturday.
This was announced on Sunday by the Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, in a post on the Bluesky social network. «The storm has affected the Talavera de Reina bridge. From the Ministry of Culture, we have already activated assessment teams and damage mechanisms to begin the reconstruction process,» he said.
A few hours earlier, the President of the government, Pedro Sánchez, also expressed solidarity with the citizens of Talavera de la Reina and offered the government’s assistance for the reconstruction.
«My solidarity with all the citizens of Talavera de la Reina after the collapse of a symbol of the city,» said the president on his account X this Sunday.
Additionally, Sánchez offered the assistance of his government to rebuild the collapsed part of the Puente Romano, the oldest bridge in the city.
