La Armada israelí ataca el puerto de Hodeida en Yemen controlado por los Hutis

The Israeli Navy attacked the city of Port Hodeida on Tuesday, located on the coast of the Red Sea and controlled by rebels in Yemen. This marks the first time that Israeli naval forces have targeted the Houthis in the region. The Israeli military confirmed this maritime attack through their news channel «Mask.»
On Monday evening, Israel issued warnings to the Shiite rebels to evacuate ports Rast uno, Hodeida, and Salif. The Israeli army stated, «The port is used for transferring weapons and is another example of the cynical exploitation of civil infrastructure by the terrorist regime of the Houthis.» The port facilities in this city are crucial for the transportation of humanitarian aid to this war-torn nation.
Since the beginning of the conflict in Gaza in October 2023, the Houthis have targeted any commercial vessel from Israel or related to the country in what they describe as acts of solidarity with the Palestinian people. Between November 2023 and January 2025, the Houthis attacked over a hundred commercial ships with rockets, drones, and planes, resulting in the sinking of two vessels and the death of four sailors. This has significantly disrupted the flow of commerce through the Red Sea, where goods worth billions of euros pass annually.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz threatened the Houthis with a naval and aerial blockade if the attacks on Israel continue. Most of the rockets and drones fired by the rebels did not reach their targets or were intercepted. In retaliation, Israeli forces conducted several airstrikes, including attacks on the international airport of Sana’a, the capital controlled by Shiite paramilitaries.
The United States launched a comprehensive assault against the rebels in mid-March. However, President Trump halted hostilities before embarking on a trip to the Middle East in mid-May, claiming that the rebels had «surrendered» to Washington’s demands. US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth recently stated that American Navy ships have crossed the Red Sea and the Bab El-Mandeb strait multiple times in recent days without facing any rebel attacks.
