During the KIA Investor Day 2025 event, the South Korean brand presented a New gasoline engine with truly noteworthy features and a bit in contrast to the current situation. The engine in question is an evolution of the previous ones and is called New 2.5 GDI engine. What are the characteristics that make this engine more innovative than before?
In addition to having a power increase of over 12%, this new KIA engine will allow you to achieve a 5% higher thermal efficiency. These are very important numbers if they are related to those of the current KIA engine in Kia Sorento (281 horsepower) and K5 GT (290 horsepower). Due to the new engine, it will be possible to exceed a power of 300 horsepower.
Furthermore, according to the information issued by the South Korean brand, the new engine will allow you to have a more decisive and dynamic acceleration. Also, the interaction between electric motors and gasoline will be much smoother compared to the current one.
So there will be greater efficiency for the engine group of all electrified models. It should be about 4% more than the current one. All this due to a new hybrid system.
