El nuevo FP gallego tendrá maestros asociados y avances en el reconocimiento de créditos con la universidad.

The president of Xuntei, Alfonso Ruda, ratified on Monday that the Galician government includes in the new decree to regulate vocational training (FP) the figure of the associated teacher and also progresses in the mutual recognition of credits between these teachings and the university.
The autonomous government analyzed on Monday a report on the beginning of the intermediate processing phase of the decree project that establishes the general management of the educational system in Galicia.
A text on which Xunta has been working for a year and a half and which aims to regulate in Galicia the basic, medium, and higher FP cycles, as well as the teachers of these teachings, adapting to the new state regulations.
In fact, the decree will allow the Department of Education, Science, Universities, and FP to develop cycle programs, which promotes the speed of adapting regulations to the needs of the sector and society.
Part of the news, such as the implementation of the intensive double FP, the increase in practical training hours and the new modules, which are already in operation in Galicia in the FP, is already working.
In addition, Rueda emphasized that the new decree will bring several measures to boost the excellence of Galician FP, including the implementation of a figure similar to that of the associated teacher, promoting mutual recognition between these teachings and university students, or the possibility of designing international study programs valid in more than one country.
The text now begins its intermediate processing, with public exposure and referral to relevant bodies (the Sectorial Board, the Galician FP Council, and the School Council, among others).
The president emphasized that the forecast could publish the new decree «in the last quarter of 2025» to request the 2026-2027 academic year. However, the regulation for the 2025-26 academic year will be carried out through instructions, as has been done smoothly for the current academic year.
The regulation of the new FP will continue, after that, with the development of the decree through new normative texts that refer to degree programs, admissions, and other aspects.
Xunta highlights the «delay and changes and contradictions of the Ministry of Education in the publication of development regulations, with new error corrections a few weeks ago, which made this decree drafting very complex.»
Furthermore, both the law and the royal decrees, according to the Galician government, «leave some room» for regional regulation, so it is necessary to adjust the text to what the ministry establishes.
More precisely, Rueda emphasized that, among the main news of the decree, creating a «figure similar to that of the associated teacher» for FP, a professional who can teach in FP modules to strengthen the connection between the business world and the educational world, in line with the teaching format that already exists in universities.
As detailed, they are associated expert personnel who have recognized professional prestige or provide their services in companies and entities of significant importance to the Galician productive sectors and also support research and innovation actions. They will offer FP and highly specialized teaching offers.
Additionally, the possibility for centers to propose hiring expert professionals in the productive sector for certain circumstances, as well as to incorporate senior experts from companies, close to retirement or in a specific situation.
The strengthening of collaboration with companies will also be developed by increasing their connection with centers, with plans to improve joint innovation and research actions, dissemination, and accreditation of experience.
Company training is also regulated to adapt to the new circumstances of state regulations «flexibly and in favor of remuneration, in a model similar to the intensive double.»
The president also indicated that the decree includes promoting mutual recognition of credits between the ministry and Galician universities, in their field of competence, which must be developed in a specific procedure.
Not surprisingly, the Galician government has recalled that it already facilitates the recognition of subjects for students accessing the University from the highest FP cycles, through agreements signed with the three public universities.
The aim is to advance in the reverse process, that is, in recognizing the credits of university students who wish to enroll in FP courses. The action within the ministry’s competence, which, highlighted, Xunta requested «without response.» «Now we want to develop from Galicia, in our field of competence, to provide more opportunities,» he said.
Regarding the internationalization of FP, Rueda emphasized that the possibility of designing international programs is established. These would be titles that combine part of the Galician program and part of another country, so they can be valid in both.
In the field of innovation, it deepens the improvement of research and applied innovation that highlights the role of the Galician Innovation Center of FP Eduardo Barreiros and favors the creation of advanced innovation centers.
Within the «FPGAL360» plan, the new decree improves comprehensive information and guidance, incorporating artificial intelligence with tools such as the OPI guides.
Additionally, the text will incorporate the new FP routes that Xunta has carried out to promote the employability of students, such as high specialization (personalized training and professional sectors) or accelerated training, which will start being taught next year.
The Department of Education has been working since January 2024 on the preparation of this text. To do this, in addition to the proposals received in the public exhibition, the contributions of working groups with educational inspection were taken into account, as well as the regular meetings with the indications of integrated vocational training centers, and the information gathered in the «Plan FP Conneda.»
