El gobierno asigna 25.4 millones a Andalucía para proyectos de tecnología renovable

The Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO) published a preliminary allocation of 25,420,388 euros for four projects for the manufacture of essential components and for the technological and industrial development of renewable energies in Andalusia.

The provisional resolution proposal of the «renovation» program of the Institute for Diversification and Energy Saving (IDAE) includes, to a large extent, the development of electrolyte and wind components for renewable hydrogen, as well as initiatives in photovoltaic technology, batteries, and heat pumps, as detailed by the ministry in a note.

The selected projects were submitted by Applied Industry Technology for Cooling and Preservation SL in Lucena (Córdoba) with a subsidy of 676,624 euros; Hydrogen 8 SL in San Roque (Cádiz) with a grant of 3,030,492 euros; Zogor Corporación SA in Córdoba with 2,273,811 euros of public subsidy; and Aienna Enixia SL in Huelva with a forecast of subsidies amounting to 18,989,461 euros.

These projects are part of a total of 34 provisionally subsidized proposals for 297.3 million euros in twelve autonomous communities, among which, in addition to Andalusia, there is the Basque Country with six projects; Castilla-La Mancha with five; Galicia with four; Castilla y León with three; The Canary Islands, Catalonia, Navarra, the Valencian Community, and Asturias with two projects each, or Extremadura and Madrid with one each.

In terms of technologies, almost a third of the selected files, chosen in a competitive agreement, correspond to the manufacturing and assembly of electrolyzers and other components for the production of green hydrogen (eleven). Others are developments in wind structures and equipment.

Seven are photovoltaic solar projects, four are equipment and components for electric storage batteries, and one is the manufacture of heat pumps. All are aligned with the government’s principle of causing no significant harm to the environment (DNSH).

Funded by NextGenerationEU under the Recovery Plan (PRTR), this IDAE stimulation line will contribute to «strengthening the entire value chain and innovative knowledge around renewable energy in Spain»; both in mature technologies, in the case of photovoltaic and wind power, as well as in emerging ones, with renewable hydrogen at the forefront.

Likewise, it will allow the development of new technological and industrial capabilities to ensure energy security, increase competitiveness, and decarbonize the industry.

Europe is currently a «net importer» of zero net emissions energy technologies. These technologies are at the center of significant geostrategic interests and the global technological race.

In this context, countries want to ensure that their supply comes from the most advanced energy production technologies and promotes a clean transition. Other regions of the world are making significant investments and implementing support measures to renew and strengthen their production capabilities.

Spain not only has renewable resources but also an industrial ecosystem around renewable value chains that is an indicator at the European and global levels.

Our country already produces 60% of the solar value chain and almost 100% of the wind, and is an exporter in these technologies. However, there are certain components or elements of this value chain in which both Spain and Europe have a high dependence on third markets.

Therefore, supporting not only the implementation of the energy transition but also new industrial capabilities is a goal of this aid program.

Furthermore, this program is funded by the PRTR, within the RepowerEU component, included in October 2023. This additional funding allowed for the strengthening of ERHA (renewable energies, renewable hydrogen), where this aid line is framed.

These reinforcement actions will not only enable the implementation of the energy transition but also allow technologies and/or solutions to be designed and manufactured in Spain.
