The government has accepted the request from the communities of Andalusia, Extremadura, and Madrid to declare level 3 of emergency situations for civil protection for the general stop at noon on Monday in Madrid. This means that it assumes management and takes control of the situation.

President Pedro Sánchez explained this after the meeting of the National Security Council in an extraordinary appearance at the Moncloa complex. «There are three autonomous communities that have officially requested level 3 of civil protection emergency, these are Andalusia, Extremadura, and Madrid, and the government, as it cannot be applied.»

In this way, the central government will first involve the organization and procedures of action of the general state administration to coordinate and direct the actions of all public administrations.

It may also detail the conditions under which the Army can intervene to support the management of emergency situations; include the necessary actions and measures to protect the population and mitigate the risk and provide the resources and support for the operations.

During his appearance, the President of the government said that the government will do the same with other autonomous communities that request it.
