Spokesperson of Council and Minister of Culture, Tourism, Youth, and Sports, Victoria Bazaga, has announced that The Mérida Festival starts at the end of June, the usual date for this event, despite the delay that has occurred in its organization process.
It should be noted that on Monday, it was known that the Legal Commission of Extremadura rejected the appeal filed by the Ute formed by Marquite, Eventimo, and Okapi Productions against the procedure to provide services for organizing the Mérida Festival.
In this way, the legal entity has awarded the reason for the technical contracting table and confirmed the final award of the contract to the company Pétacia Epectáculos, responsible for managing the competition in recent years under the leadership of Jesús Cimarro.
In this regard, during the press conference after the Government Council meeting, Bazaga emphasized that, once the process has been completed «with transparency and legality,» they will begin promptly.
«You know that the theater always starts at the end of June, with imminent deadlines. The winning company begins and we always mix the same data and keep track of them, at the start of the festival and the conclusion of the festival.
