One of the agents remains serious and two people were arrested
Two Guardia Civil agents were injured after being run over by a vehicle that fled to Málaga in Manilva. Two people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
Sources from Benemarita confirmed that the events took place during an operation in which a man who was the subject of an arrest warrant had to be apprehended. Apparently, the individual, along with another person driving a vehicle, fled the scene, running over two agents of the corps.
The Guardia Civil later confirmed that the two men were arrested; and in terms of the civil guards, they emphasized that they were taken to a hospital, with one of them being admitted with a serious prognosis and the other treated for minor injuries.
Finally, the aforementioned sources from the armed force indicated that the two individuals were arrested for charges of assault, damage, and an outstanding warrant against one of them.
On their part, the Professional Association of the Guardia Civil, Toy, warned of «the need to dismantle drug trafficking clans in the province of Malaga and the increasing violence against law enforcement.»
«The lack of appropriate material and human resources allows these organizations to operate with impunity, posing a serious risk in the Costa del Sol,» they said in a statement, citing what happened last Tuesday as an example.
Toy believes that these events «highlight the brutality with which these organizations operate and the vulnerability of the agents when facing more and more armed and organized criminals,» emphasizing the need for a special declaration of the entire Andalusian coast as a Special Security Zone (ZES).
