Confirmado el remake de «Buffy Huntvampiros» con Sarah Michelle Gellar como protagonista

«What are we going to do now?» Dawn asked in the final scene of the series. «We’ll go back to the destroyed Sunnydale, that’s what we’ll do!» More than two decades after the successful supernatural series from the 90s created by Joss Whedon, concluded its (glorious) seven-season cycle (1997-2003), «Buffy Hunting Vampires» returns with a «rebirth» that, according to recent information, will receive a pilot commission from Hulu. And before fans start sharpening their stakes and shouting that the mouth of hell spews out the worst of themselves, Sarah Michelle Gellar, 47, is expected to return as Buffy Summers for the revival.

«Variety» reported that Gellar was in «final talks» to portray the iconic character, although she will not direct the new series, which will focus on a new vampire hunt. If this wasn’t enough and the signal that other original cast members are likely to return, producer Dolly Parton which is no longer a secret, is on board, and Oscar-winning director Chloé Zhao, a ‘Buffy’ fan, will direct the next chapter of the «Buffyverse». Gellar has posted a message on Instagram confirming her participation.

«So… you may have heard some news this week, but I realize you didn’t hear about me,» she began. –Three years ago, I received a call from my dear friend and mentor, Gail Berman. She told me she wanted to meet with Chloé Zhao to discuss her opinion on a possible Buffy revival. I was surprised that Chloé knew who I was, but, as I always did, I told Gail I didn’t see how the series would exist again. I was always on board, but this time I heard something different in her voice. I finally agreed to meet (especially to meet Chloé) And our twenty-minute coffee turned into a four-hour adventure quickly. We laughed, we cried, but above all, we talked about how much this show means.

She added that she «surprised» herself by agreeing to continue the conversation «until finally, one day, I landed on an idea. I have always listened to the fans and heard their desire to revisit Buffy and the world But I couldn’t do something unless we were sure we would do it right,» Gellar continued. «I promise we will make this series only if we know we can do it right. And I’ll tell you we are on the right path.»

We have faith.

Zhao’s third feature, »ANY–Won 3 Oscars in 2021, including Best Picture and Best Director. She also co-wrote and directed Marvel Studios’ «Eternals». Wheedon is clearly not involved in the reboot, as he has not worked in Hollywood since facing misconduct allegations in 2021. Therefore, all we can do now is pray, that Alyson Hannigan and Anthony Stewart want to return, as the series wouldn’t be the same without Willow and Giles.

«There is one chosen in every generation,» the latter announced. We are eager to meet the new chosen one of «Buffy».
