Celebración del Día Internacional de la Danza en Plaza del Pilar de Zaragoza con más de 200 bailarines
The International Dance Day took place in Zaragoza with the participation of over 200 dancers from different artistic disciplines in the city. The opening was led by students from the Municipal Professional Dance Conservatory and the Archaüelles Arancha Center, who read the International Dance Day message, written on this occasion by Latvian dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov.
Zaragoza’s Mayor, Natalia Chueca, participated in the event, highlighting the efforts made by the city to promote and spread dance culture.
After the reading of the manifesto, the audience was able to participate in a ballet class at the elementary level of the conservatory in front of the pillar, taught by the professional municipal dance conservatory teacher, Blanca Álvarez, accompanied on the piano by María Callejero, the conservatory pianist.
A second 20-minute training session followed, in which the rest of the conservatory students, participants in the ballet activity for the entire Dance Center, the Lamov Company, and students from various private dance schools in Zaragoza, such as the Foss Academy, also took part at the ARantxa Dance Center and the Body Center Dance Center.

This celebration reflects Zaragoza’s interest in promoting artistic education, which has allowed the dance center to establish itself in recent years as a hub for artistic creation, where companies and performing arts professionals can develop their rehearsals and prepare their productions.
On the other hand, the professional dance conservatory is the only Official Dance Center in Aragon. It offers two specialties, classical dance, and contemporary dance, with 200 students enrolled in 2025/26.
Both centers have a new rehearsal room, named Patsy Kuppe-Matt, in honor of the late dance master and ballet artistic director in Zaragoza, at their facilities in the former Palafox barracks. In this way, they aim to expand their educational and cultural offerings.
