Ángel Álava Lumbreras, lanzacohetes en fiestas de Santa Ana 2024

Ángel Álava Lumbreras, a 64-year-old native of Tudela diagnosed with ALS in 2018, will be in charge of launching the opening rocket for the Tudela 2024 festivities on July 24. This was announced on Friday by the mayor of the city, Alejandro Toquero, who revealed that his decision was made «as always when I have this responsibility, following more my heart than my head, because it never fails.»
In this regard, he remembered all those who «fight and fight and fight» and considered that Álava will light the fuse on behalf of «those who do not give up, those who are not heard, those who need to be seen,» those who understood that life can take an immediate turn and that life is now, on behalf of those who need a law to protect them once and for all in this country.
Toquero also referred to the Pamplona rocket launched in 2022 by Eusebio Unzué. «He gave visibility to the disease and this mayor does not want time to erase that statement. We do not forget ours,» he said, once again requesting the urgent processing of the law for ALS patients and thanking the ANELA association for their work. «We will ask a thousand times if necessary,» he stressed.
«Ángel has been suffering from ALS since 2018 and his enthusiasm deserves this award shared with his wife and the rest of his family; an award for all patients and their families,» said the mayor of Tudela.
Ángel Álava was born on Patio Street in Tudela in 1960 and is the youngest of seven siblings. He is married to Ana José Saso and is the father of two daughters and grandfather of two granddaughters. A professional engineer, he worked for two years at Tracasa and later at Mármoles del Ebro. His life took a turn in 2018 when he was diagnosed with ALS, and since then he has been actively involved in the ANELA association and in all possible actions to obtain the processing of a law that protects the sick and ensures them a dignified life.
