The Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, accompanied by the councilor in charge of Sports, Sonia Cea, received today, at the Palacio de Cibeles, the best representation of Madrid football, embodied in the players and coaching staff of the two Madrid teams. teams (Sub-15 and Sub-17) that won the Championship of Spain for Autonomous Regional Teams and the two male Madrid teams (Sub-16 and Sub-19) that achieved first place in the Championship of Spain for Autonomous Regional Futsal Teams.
At the event, attended by the president of the Royal Madrid Football Federation, Francisco Díez, and the captains of the four champion teams, the mayor applauded the «feat» of these victories that demonstrate that «the best football is in Madrid.» and above all «the best youth.» Almeida highlighted the «values that sport instills» in the players, the «values of effort, sacrifice, and companionship» and amateur sport as «the purest demonstration of love for sports practice.» Likewise, the mayor thanked the champions for presenting the trophies to the entire city at this event and concluded by reminding them of their worth, «you are capable of accepting any challenge» not only in sports but also in life.
Football is an asset and a recognized brand of Madrid because, in addition to having these four regional teams that became Spanish champions in 2024, the capital is the only city in Spain with four major first division teams that have become ambassadors of Madrid to the world.
