1Password has introduced a new feature that allows users to tag their entries with physical locations. This way, when the user is near the location of a credential, this information will appear in the Password Manager’s mobile application. This «nearby items» feature makes the most relevant information quickly available to 1Password customers and reduces the need to search for the correct details or remember exactly what an account was called.

Location information can be added to any new or existing item in a 1Password. The application was also updated with a map view to set and visualize the locations of items in the blog post announcing the feature, the company mentioned examples such as a job for a job, health records at the doctor’s office, WiFi access in the room, and rewards for members at local stores as potential uses.

Privacy and security are essential for a password manager, and 1Password has confirmed that user location coordinates are only used locally and do not leave the device. Nearby items are available to 1Password customers starting today.
